Description

Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital is seeking a MRI Tech for a PRN position.

Shift: PRN

Position Goal: This position is responsible for the performance of MRI examinations, which include all aspects of chart review, patient safety, technical performance, processing, and patient screening and maintain data logs.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs all MRI procedures and maintains a thorough working knowledge of the operation of all equipment in the MRI area. Position is on an as needed basis. Hours vary.
  • Safely operates the scanner and injector in order to produce diagnostic quality MRI images.
  • Understands computer software of the MRI scanners and maintains competency in the MRI area.
  • Consistently applies working knowledge pertaining to MRI anatomy and patho-physiology to produce high standard of quality images while under the direction of the Radiologist.
  • Participates in performance improvement initiatives. Participates in staff/student orientation and training. Performs venipuncture for appropriate exams.
  • Performing duties of other department members as deemed necessary. 
  • Provides support in any department area.
  • Demonstrate a complete knowledge and understanding of operating MRI scan units and processing equipment.  Demonstrate the ability to do minor trouble shooting.
  • Perform all scanning functions in a quick and organized manner in order to keep within the time frame that patients are scheduled.  Patient output should be equal to other MRI staff.
  • Recognize when to use protocols and when to alter protocols based on the condition of the patient.
  • Perform skillful administration of I.V. contrast and demonstrate knowledgeable use of pressure injectors.
  • Demonstrate an adequate knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy. Meet the minimal knowledge required to operate the Advantage Windows workstation.
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate and load the laser processor and perform minor trouble shooting.
  • Review patient record for patient safety, accurate history, medical necessity and verification of order and document information 100% of the time. Complete all computer verification functions 100% of the time prior to end of shift.
  •  Participate in maintaining adequate stock of supplies at all times.
  • May be delegated to perform functions according to department policies as In-charge or Lead Technologist if shift has 3 or more staff members based on seniority in absence of Supervisor of Imaging Services and Director of Imaging Services
  • Required to participate in “on-call” rotation as determined by department needs including holidays.
  • Must participate in Rotating call schedule for holidays, weekday, and weekends. Response time to answer call back is 30 minutes when called: arrival time 45 minutes to hospital.

 

Experience: 1 yr. MRI experience required.

Education: Radiology Technologist with preference for MRI registry.

Special Qualifications: Licensed Radiology Technologist with MRI registry in 3 years of hire date, BLS required
